Here it is.. post 100!! Party time!

Well it's been quite the road in the blogsphere this year! It started off with just a simple pink little blog with a post here and there. I wasn't sure who read it, what to write and even to go and read others. But after being involved with The MomPack and meeting mom bloggers, I have been introduced to the world of blogging. I found out about the product reviews (with help from Olivia owner of BabyCandy), contests, where to submit my products too, meme's, carnivals, stories and getting to make friends with other moms! It's been such a great experience. I also gave my blog a makeover courtesy of Shera from Sweet 'n Simple Designs, started offering product reviews, and hanging out at 5 Minutes for Mom!

So here it is post #100! I was trying to decide what kind of party to throw, what food to offer and prizes to giveaway! First, being its summer I think it's only fitting to have a beach party right here right now! So grab your bathing suit, towel, sunscreen and beach balls and lets held out to get some sun, drink some lemonade and relax by the pool. I have some ice cream sandwiches, cookies and fruit pizza for us to snack on!

Now on to prizes... I didn't even realize how close I was to #100 til it was too late. Otherwise I would have searched high and low for sponsors and giveaways and what not. But instead we are headed to the prize closet to see what we can pull out and giveaway! I have one last copy of The Baby Gizmo buying guide, $5 gift card to Starbucks, $15 gift certificate to Sweet Pea Cakes, etc. and a custom onesie size 0-3 months for the little baby. So now let's see what you have to do to win...

we are going on a scavenger hunt! You must go to all 5 places and come back here with all 5 CORRECT answers to win! Then I will draw 4 winners to receive 1 prize from the list above on July 9th! Winner will have 3 days to claim prize before I draw another winner! Good luck to everyone! Have fun and thanks for celebrating with me! *** NOTE it has been changed so that no one copies anyones answers, I am requesting that instead of leaving a comment here that you email me your answers and I will draw the names. My email is sweetpeacakesetc (at) yahoo (dot) com. I have turned off the comments but still have the people who left one in the drawing! Thank you! ***

1. Visit Monkey-Toes and look around. How many different pairs of shoes do they offer?
2. Visit Baby Candy and check out the organic onesies. Finish this saying "Sugar in ......."
3. Hop over to A Frog in my Soup. How many little "frogs" are there and are they boys or girls?
4. Munchie Mallow offers adorable accessories for your little girls. Name 3 things from her site.
5. When you can't have edible cake, you can have non-edible at Sweet Pea Cakes, etc. How many items come hidden in the cake? Name one.

OK that's it! Have fun and good luck! Check back to see who wins. Make sure to leave a valid email address in your comment so I can contact you. Watch for an email from sweetpeacakesetc (at) yahoo (dot) com!

Thanks!

Baby shower's are so much fun!

~Dawn

I almost forgot my answers to the game:

Game #1 my guess is 88 jelly beans!

Game #2 here is a pic of me preggo with Peanut:

Game #3
Well I shouldn't guess how many diapers are used for the Nursing Diaper cake since its from me. :) But its less then 75 and more than 50!

Game #4
Well both of my labors were fast and all natural. With my first I went in to have my water broken since I was nearly 4 1/2 cm dilated and it wasn't breaking on its own. So the doctor broke it said see you in the morning and was off. Well after visiting with friends that came to visit. I soon yelled out I have to push. The nurses ran over panicked and one left to find the doctor. THey told me not to push. So I tried to hold her in. It didnt' work. It took less than 15 minutes of pushing, about 4 pushes, and she was out. Nearly 8 lbs too. SO an hour total of labor with pushing. I didn't get Monkey on my belly or anything. I was not breathing right while pushing and I had to be put on oxygen right away. I also tore and got the chills right after having her so I was piled under blankets. But I decided it was a breeze and I was made to have kids. I then planned on having a dozen.
When I went in with Peanut they wanted to make sure I was in the hospital before my water broke since they figured this one would be quick too. For some reason I was not dilating so they gave me some little pills that they insert (yuck) and it softens the cervix. Well the first one did wonders and I had HUGE contractions about a minute about but was still not dilating. SO I took a hot shower in a shower with jets on the wall. It was so fantastic. It was time for the second pill (they came in a series of 4 and if by morning I was not dilating the doctor would be hooking me up to the big meds to get it going) but they wouldn't give it to me since my contractions were to close together. So they said to get some rest. Yeah right. I think I slept for an hour and then it was time for another pill. shortly after this I did not feel well. I had to keep going potty and what have you. Well at one point the contractions got super bad and I could not get off the toilet. I kid you not I was sitting in there with my head against the cool wall, losing feeling in my legs, afraid the baby would fall in the toilet. Finally everyone insisted that I get out of the bathroom right now and lay down that the doctor would be in soon to speed this up. My only thoughts was does he hate me?? why on earth would be want to cause me more pain? At this point I insisted on drugs NOW. (prior to this I told everyone that at no point was I to have any even if I ask) I also asked to go home. I had enough of being there and figured the baby wasn't ready and we shouldn't make her come out so I wanted to go home. The nurse checked and I was finally dilated at 4 cm. in about another 3 minutes I was in horrible pain. I was gripping the railings so hard my knuckles were white. Everyone was trying to set up the room and get ready and call the doctor to come in. Well at this point I have the overwhelming urge to pee. I ask to go to the bathroom and you know what? NO ONE HELPED ME. So my boyfriend grabbed a bedpan to give me but a nurse came in and took that way. All of a sudden water went everywhere- on the floor (which was a horribe sound) and everywhere. I started to cry thinking I just wet the bed and no one wanted to let me go potty. That soon ended as I rolled off my side and screamed I have to push. They grabbed the on call doctor and told me do not push. How do you not push? Well he barely turned around to catch the baby. I pushed once and she shot out. I felt every shoulder, her butt, her legs, all of it. I don't remember feeling all of Monkey when she came out. It was crazy. They popped her on my belly which I didn't get with Monkey since they put me on oxygen right away. I had to remind my boyfriend to cut the cord, grab the camera and call to check on my mom. SO Peanut came out 5 minutes after my water broke. Thank goodness I didn't go home! So the dilating took forever, which it wouldn't have had I been at home and doing it like I did the first. But the actually pushing and all that was quick. It was just soooo intense and fast this time that it hurt. So now I have changed my mind on a dozen and I am now having two. Maybe in 5 years when I forget the pain I will think of having another!

Ultimate Blog AFTERPARTY

The Ultimate Blog party has been slowing down and I am not going to lie... I am exhausted. And I think I might have gained 5 lbs. from all the yummy food and drinks. Wow I met so many great people and saw a lot of fantastic blogs. Sadly enough I did not get through all of them as planned. Originally I thought I could do a 100 a day and get through atleast half of them and then during the afterparty go to the other half. No.... I didn't even come close!! I would get onto a blog start reading the party post, then click on something else, then leave a message and before you know it 20 minutes have gone by and I had only been at 1!! I was told there was a swim party and other great things going on and I didn't make there. But I still plan on checking more out and adding to my growing list of favories. (oh did you want to see my first party? here it is!)

Thanks to everyone who hosted a party. It was so wonderful to party surf and enjoy making new friends. I am still going through my comments and trying to go to anyones page I haven't already been to. Bare with me it will happen... in between the house cleaning, putting away the party stuff, selling cakes, taking care of the kids, homework and sleep!

Alright so let's get a little after party going here.... I can clean tomorrow! St. Patricks day is right around the corner... then my daughter's 7th birthday on the 21st.... and then its Easter on the 23rd. So let's get hopping! Here's some music of you...la la la de da la... oh you don't like my singing? alright well, I would offer more cake- but its gone. So grab some water, throw your dancing shoes on and let us know your favorite part of the party. Did you find some favorite blogs to add? Win some cool prizes? We will be annoucing our winner tomorrow for the manicure or pedicure travel set.

Come back and visit this week with two reviews and contests being posted, a few new posts that you should enjoy and other surprises.

Alright before I go let me introduce you to some new friends of mine...

First there is Stephanie with Adventures in Babywearing. I really enjoyed her site since I like to wear my baby- now she wants to get down and get in to trouble! I am all about being close to your baby- wearing, nursing, co sleeping. I think its more I have a fear they won't know I am their mother unless they are attached to me 24/7 like they were in my belly. I know I know its my issue not the baby's issue. But I read up on Stephanie's page about baby wearing and you got to take a look at this especially if you are expecting. So nice to meet someone who likes to do the things you do. ;)

Second up is Karla's Blog: Looking towards Heaven. I loved her sense of style and party theme. Look at how it starts out...."Not much has changed since my last party: Once again, I'm not properly dressed or decorated up for this shin-dig... but we'll make do. (thankfully, I'm not still pregnant with #4... otherwise that would mean I was something like 17 months pregnant. Even though it felt like that at times, I think if that were the case, I'd have bigger concerns than the decor at my party...)" I mean how can you not love that??!?! Made me laugh. She also has a 100 things about me page (gosh I need to get one done on myself..I am not sure I can think of a 100 things though or atleast not 100 interesting things) Here is item #32 -I gave away 2nd row Dave Matthews tickets to go skiing. Anyone willing to do that is crazy and is going to have interesting blogs to read. Go visit!

And third is Coulda' been worse! First off who doesn't want to go to a blog party where there is a huge bonfire going on?? I mean it, pack up your marshmellows and head over. Dee Dee was funny and I enjoy laughing when I am out at parties. I am amazed at all the homeschool moms. I am not sure I could have patience to be home with the kids, and teach them and work and clean and still be home- all day. So I applaud all of you who are able to do that! While I was there I had to head over to Eating bon bons and watching tv... again some laughter escaped me. Go see what you think and let her know Dawn sent you over to party!

I am working on a list of favorites and some ones I have comments on. So look for that post coming soon! In the mean time, surf around mine for awhile, visit others, hang out, whatever it is you want to do. I think I might go pop some food in the oven anyway... are you hungry? I am!

P.S. Please leave a comment if you are stopping by so I know to go visit you too!

It's Party Time!

Ok everyone- it is finally here! The ultimate blog party at 5 minutes for mom is going on now- March 7th-March 14th. Just click here to visit the party, check out all the wonderful blogs, and of course enter to win awesome prizes. We are giving away a Sweet Pea Baby Food Gift Set at this years party! I am so excited to be participating this year! I was fortunate enough to find out about this great party from Shera with A Frog In My Soup.

Thanks for coming to my blog and let me introduce myself! My name is Dawn. I am a single mother of two beautiful girls- Kaleigh who is almost 7 and Lily who is 15 months. I am currently going to school full time finishing up my business degree and getting my masters and CPA license. Stressful. I also own my own business called Sweet Pea Cakes, Etc. out here in Colorado. I make handmade diaper cakes, handmade swaddle blankets, bib sets, nursing cover ups, Sweet Pea Baby Food Gifts sets, wedding towel cakes, Sweet Pea J's, bath time towel cakes with pajamas for babies and children, and much more. Right now we are celebrating our birthday so there are sales, specials and giveaways all month long. So later when you are needing some other parties to go to stop by Sweet Pea Cakes, etc. I really love what I do and have enjoyed working on the website, mailing cakes across the US and spending quality time at home with my girls. I am so excited to finally be a WAHM!

I am totally new to this blogging world. I first started my blog as a spin off from my site to post new products, updates, and use it as more of a newsletter. But now after meeting so many wonderful moms out there with blogs I have gotten into the fun of writing, publishing reviews and contests. I am really hoping to expand and add even more content over the months. So check back often for weekly contests and reviews.

Well I wish I had baked something to share or had some wine to offer but I don't. Will some coffee and a Sweet Pea cake do the trick??? Plus, I will be giving away a manicure or pedicure travel set for one lucky winner who leaves a comment here during the Ultimate Blog party- 7th-14th. So please leave a comment even if you are just stopping by to check things out! I would love to visit your blog or site as well! Free free to subscribe to the blog as well.

Later this month on March 27th-29th stop by Little Ladybug Designs to participate in their Virtual Baby Shower. One lucky adoptive mother was picked as a winner to be showered with gifts from numerous sponsors and you too can win these great gifts. Stop by for baby games, music, entertainment and fun! Win great prizes just for signing up for the newsletter and signing the guestbook. (take a look at the post below for more places to see us and win free stuff!)

Lots of parties all month long! So much fun! Check back during the week as we post more contests, reviews, party pictures and just some of the off the wall fun stuff. Rock on! Oh and here is what I want to win(some are for me and some for the girls so I am going to list a few!):
#1 Rocking Horse- Lily would love this!
#9 FeeFiFoto- I love to put pictures of my kids on things!
#12- Happy Panda $50 gift certificate- love the little girl outfits!
I also recommend my friends #2, #24 and #30. I would also like any of these: #19, #29, #48, #50, #68, #76, #98, #101, #102, #136, and I think that will do it for me! :)

Come back this weekend as we host an afterparty, provide contests, giveaways and continue to get our groove on!

~Dawn

Update on Girls Night In

The Girls Night In open house was last night! It was a success! We ended up with close to 50 women who came for a night of pampering, free massages, food from Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chef, as well as shopping, prizes and leave with overflowing goodie bags. I enjoyed myself so much and was so happy to hear such positive feedback. It was such an upbeat, positive environment thanks to the great women who participated.

The idea was to have a night that supported other women trying to run their own at home business. What better way to do that then all work it together. I am so happy that everyone was able to get leads, bookings, sales and build their contact list. The question of the night was "When is the next one?" I am thinking April or May!

Now my time will be spent getting our networking group off the ground and keeping up with my blog!!
